Living in Germany can be very divers depending on whether you live and work in the city or in the countryside, which generation you belong to or which professional and private circles you hang out with.

And yet – especially when seen from the outside, there are a number of distinctive features, such as how Germans communicate, how they deal with hierarchies, their understanding of time or how trust and relationships are built - both professionally and privately – that might be unexpected or even irritating for people newer to the country.

The seminar is aimed at people of different cultural backgrounds who have moved to Germany from abroad and are living and working here. The seminar provides an introduction into intercultural communication and an overview of typical German cultural values and their relevance in everyday work and life. Participants become aware of their own cultural imprint and can explore for themselves in which areas may be potential for misunderstandings or differences.

Depending on the needs of the participants, culture shock and/or managing personal resources when going abroad can also be included in the training.

  • Gain insights into typical German values and how translate into everyday work and private life
  • Reflect on their own cultural preferences and their consequences when collaborating and meeting with German colleagues, partners and friends
